Author Event Today And Another 11/17

Posted on October 17, 2024 by merostron under Uncategorized

This evening, for the first time since 2019 I’m having an in person author event at Village Books in Bellingham. Like the one I held for Cape Decision, this event will feature several actors reading short selections from my books. This time the focus will be on my latest novel, Fjord Land. Having voice actors read selections is so much more interesting and entertaining than listening to me read! I have four published books to talk about. The Kabul Conscript and The Roving Fitzgeralds were both published during the pandemic, so I wasn’t able to do any in person author events for those titles. Fjord Land, set mostly in Alaska, 2002 is the sequel to Cape Decision. The Kabul Conscript is a prequel, set in 1973 during the Afghanistan coup that summer. You can start with any of the novels, but it’s more rewarding to read them in order. I will also speak briefly about The Roving Fitzgeralds, the memoirs of my great grandfather, Roy Fitzgerald, who was a stagecoach driver and saddle horse guide in Yellowstone Park during the early 1900s.

On November 17 I’ll take a ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island for an author event at Griffin Bay Bookstore. It’s a wonderful, independent bookstore, established in 1979. The San Juan Islands are a favorite destination! Many of my most memorable sailing adventures and band performances have taken place there.
