Sailing

My song, “Bluegreen Sea,” which our band recorded a few years back, has become pretty popular on youtube, with over 18,000 plays. The video is a photo montage of boats sailing the Salish Sea, the San Juan Islands, and Bellingham Bay. Here is that link:

Here is a short video of Jon and myself sailing in brisk winds—a very fun day on the water! My previous boat, “Galena,” a 1970 Alberg 37 weighed in at 19,000 pounds and was at her best when the winds got up into the twenties, or even thirties.

Nice sailing on the Salish Sea.

A junk rigged boat in Bellingham Bay.

Finding I was not using the boat as much, and with no plans of long offshore voyages, I sold Galena in 2015, downsizing to a much smaller and trailerable San Juan 21. After two months of work, repainting, and replacing nearly every metal fitting, I had a successful launch and sail just before winter weather arrived. It’s a really nice sailer.
