I published Cape Decision a few months before the Covid pandemic began. The Kabul Conscript and The Roving Fitzgeralds were published during the pandemic. For that reason I only had the opportunity to do a few in person author appearances. When my youngest daughter died in the spring of 2022 I lost all interest in writing and promoting my books for a time. Two weeks ago I had my first author event since 2019. It was a success (meaning we sold some books) and I enjoyed the experience immensely.
Like every writer I require and treasure periods of solitude. It’s necessary for me to accomplish anything. But because I have been a performing musician for decades, and have a history in theater, I also enjoy interacting with audiences. I love meeting people and traveling to different venues to perform, whether as a musician or promoting my books.
Now that I’ve done one author appearance I’m eager to schedule more. They will be posted at my facebook page. As of this writing I have an author event scheduled at Seaport Books in LaConner September 11, and one at Village Books in Bellingham October 17.
I try to keep my these events entertaining. I’m not going to sit and read long passages from my books. That is often boring, and I don’t want any spoilers. I hope to see some of you out at one of my events in the upcoming months!
